Information | I qualified as a chartered accountant with a medium sized practice and then moved to Price Waterhouse (as it then was) in 1997. I simultaneously moved from audit into tax. After 8 years with PW / PwC, I moved to Deloitte in 2005. I’ve been based in London since 1997. I specialise in transaction tax issues. My current role has four broad areas, of which the most important by far is insolvencies and corporate restructurings -I (i)I head a team of 25 people focused on restructuring and insolvency. I am also involved with (ii) AIM flotations (particularly overseas companies); (iii) corporate mergers & acquisitions; (iv) on-going corporate tax advice. |
Things I Wish I'd Known | 1) The things that truly impress an interviewer; 2) A realistic comparison of salary bands over a period of time (not just the starting figure); 3) How difficult study for a professional qualification could be when you were expected to simultaneously be working full-time; 4) The range of different areas that people can get involved with in an accounting firm and which offer the best starting place to launch a career; 5) The opportunities to travel. |
