| Information | I work in recruiting to fill senior board positions with private equity backed technology and media clients. I started life in sales in a major publishing firm, becoming a manager on a number of leading business titles. I joined a global recruitment firm and then myself and my fellow- partners bought out the UK arm of the company and now run our own business. If anyone needs any advice on the recruitment / technology/ private equity/ media industries, I’m happy to oblige or at least point people towards relevant job sites or industry bodies. |
| Things I Wish I'd Known | I think taking one’s time to choose the first job is important, but also remember that the first few years of working are about gaining experiences and skills that allow you to decide a direction to take. Don't feel that the first job out of university is the career choice you will be stuck with. In my experience, employers are looking for personal qualities as much as qualifications. Also when looking for jobs, utilise all avenues from adverts to alumni contacts to having the energy to contact companies directly. |
