| Information | Postgrads can study to become an SLT (Speech and Language Therapist) in 2 years (4 years for undergraduates) at about 6 Universities in England including Newcastle and London x 2 (City and UCL). I work with a range of clients with speech, language and communication difficulties e.g. autistic spectrum disorders, speech sound difficulties, stammering and language difficulties in mainstream school and community clinics. This includes a project across our borough (Outer North East London Community Services) which trains teachers and LSAs about speech, language and communication difficulties and includes preventative work. |
| Things I Wish I'd Known | Government funding available for course fees. You can also apply for a means tested bursary to help with living costs. The course covers adult and paediatric caseloads so you leave qualified to work with either client group. |
