Information | I HAVE WORKED IN BOTH THE PUBLIC AND PRIVATE SECTORS WORKING IN A RANGE OF DIFFERENT ROLES BEFORE BEING PROMOTED INTO SENIOR HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT POSITIONS.I SPENT A SIGNIFICANT PERIOD OF MY WORKING LIFE IN THE ELECTRICITY SUPPLY INDUSTRY AND WAS HEAVILY INVOLVED IN THE ORGANISATIONAL AND POLICY CHANGES THAT OCCURRED FOLLOWING PRIVATISATION. I WAS PARTICULARLY INTERESTED IN A CAREER IN HRM BECAUSE OF MY INTEREST IN EMPLOYEE RELATIONS AND THIS ROLE ALSO SUITED MY OWN PERSONALITY AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS. I DECIDED IN 2005 TO TAKE A NEW ROLE AS A SENIOR LECTURER AT NORTHUMBRIA UNIVERSITY SPECISLISING IN HUMAN RESOURCES MANAGEMENT AND OTHER BUSINESS AREAS OF TEACHING. I CURRENTLY TEACH ON A RANGE OF UNDERGRADUATE, POSTGRADUATE AND CORPORATE PROGRAMMES AND HAVE ALSO TAUGHT INTERNATIONALLY. MY PARTICULAR STRENGTH IS MY ABILITY TO APPLY MY EXPERIENCE TO THE STUDENT LEARNING ENVIRONMENT. |
Things I Wish I'd Known | I HAVE ENJOYED MY CAREER BOTH IN MANAGEMENT AND NOW UNIVERSITY TEACHING BUT I AM A COMBATIVE INDIVIDUAL AND WOULD HAVE ENJOYED WORKING IN THE AREA OF EMPLOYMENT LAW. |
