News: New Master Appointed for Grey College

The College is pleased to announce the appointment of Professor Tom Allen as new Head of House from October 1st 2011. The current Master, Professor Martyn Chamberlain, retires on September 30th 2011.

Tom Allen is professor at Durham Law School. He was educated in Canada and at London University. He began his academic career at Durham in 1991, and has previously held posts at Newcastle Law School and at the University of Leeds. Prior to entering academic life, Tom practised law in Toronto, Canada and taught secondary school mathematics as a volunteer in Botswana.

Tom has a distinguished research career with interests in commercial, constitutional and international law. He has held visiting professorships in the USA and South Africa.

All members of the College will wish to offer congratulations to Professor Allen on his appointment and offer best wishes for a successful period of office as Master.
